River Roux is a performance artist, writer and dancer on the pole working across theatre and performance. Her initial performances took place in strip clubs and nightlife. Roux's work centres the connections between labor, gender, care and sex.
Roux co-created ‘JUICE’ in 2024, her first solo piece and part of the repertoire at Volksbühne am Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz Berlin. The performance is currently on tour with stagings at auawirleben Festival Bern, Schwankhalle Bremen, Gessnerallee Zürich, 6 Tage Frei Festival Stuttgart and Werkraum Münchner Kammerspiele. ‚JUICE‘ was created in collaboration with Bibiana Mendes.
Most recently, she co-conceptualised ‚ANDROGYNOUS‘ with Lola Arias at the Maxim-Gorki-Theatre Berlin. Roux had previously performed in Lola Arias‘ ‚Happy Nights‘ at Theater-am-Goetheplatz Bremen. She is now working on her coming performance ‚TEETH‘ (WT), premiering at Volksbühne am Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz in spring 2026.
Roux was a fellow of Berlin Summer School during Performing Exiles Festival at Berliner Festspiele in 2025. From 2021 to 2023 she was part of the Berlin Stripper’s Collective, staging feminist interventions in nightlife before moving on to create solo.
