This performance by the Berlin Stripper‘s Collective transports the audience into a strip club on a quiet night during the festive season. The five protagonists are confronted with a single client, financial struggles, demanding management, performance anxiety and fears of criminalisation. As the night progresses - and increasingly escalates - they take their politics, fears and humor to the stage.
The Berlin Stripper’s Collective purposefully merges performance, entertainment and activism. Known for its humorous performances the collective counters the dominant portrayal of strippers and sex workers by centering the performer‘s agency and autonomy without denying the challenging realities of working in a stigmatized profession.
The piece was written, directed and performed exclusively by current and former members of the collective. It is proof that sex worker‘s stories are best told by sex workers themselves.
